Dr Jason Smithson

Keynote Speaker

Dr. Jason Smithson qualified at the Royal London Hospital in 1995; achieving a number of awards including The Constance Klein Memorial, The Stafford Millar, and The Malcolm Jenkins Scholarships, The American Association of Endodontics Prize and the Overall Award for Clinical Dentistry.

His specific interest is direct composite resin artistry and minimally invasive all ceramic restorations and has presented to dentists internationally in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and throughout Europe.

He is involved in postgraduate dental teaching in both the Cornwall & Plymouth Foundation Dental Practitioners Schemes and is a Clinical Lecturer at The Peninsula Dental School, UK and Honorary Clinical Tutor in Restorative Dentistry at Warwick University: one of only two exclusively Post-Graduate Dental Schools in the UK. Jason is a Diplomat of The Royal College of Surgeons (England).

He has published widely in International Journals.

Jason is an Opinion Leader for a number of Dental Companies and is the only European dentists on the Teaching Faculty of the internationally acclaimed Center for Esthetic Excellence, Chicago, USA. He is the only UK Dentist on the European Restorative Advisory Panel, GCEurope, Belgium. Jason is Clinical Faculty for The European Aesthetics Program of gIDE/UCLA.

In 2009, he was awarded the Pankey Scholarship and in 2011 was voted in the “Top 20 Most Influential Dentists” by Dentistry Magazine.

Jason maintains a private dental office in Cornwall, England.

Prof Peet van der Vyver

Prof Peet van der Vyver qualified as a dentist BChD (Cum Laude) at the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 1992. In 2007 he completed  two Diplomas in Endodontics and Aesthetic Dentistry (Cum Laude) as well as a Masters Degree in Endodontics (Cum Laude). In 2017 he received his PHD degree.

He works mainly in his private practice based in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa where he runs the Studio for Endodontics, Restorative Dentistry and Dental Education  (www.studio4endo.com). He is also  a part-time lecturer in the Department of Odontology, School of Dentistry, University of Pretoria, South Africa. He is the past President of the South African Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry (SAAAD) and is currently the President of The South African Society for Endodontics and Aesthetic Dentistry (SASEAD).

Peet has over 210 publications to his credit and is an international lecturer with participation in more than 410 congresses and hands-on courses in South Africa, Switzerland, France, Germany, Canada, Japan, Israel, Dubia, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Lebanon, Russia, China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

In his limited spare time he enjoys travelling to explore nature and to fulfil his second passion, photography. Peet is a keen Dental and Wildlife photographer and one of his productions has been screened on Nat Geo Wild in the series Fight Night. 

Dr Christiaan Victor

Dr Christiaan Victor completed his undergraduate degree (BChD) at the University of Pretoria (UP ) in June 2001. During his final year, he was selected to participate as an exchange student to the Dental school of the University of Nijmegen in the Netherlands.

Currently, he is based full time at his private practice in Pretoria where he has practiced since 2002 after completing his community service.

In 2004, Dr Victor got involved in implant dentistry and attended several local and international implant courses. Among others,  he completed a two-year certificate with Prof. Andre van Zyl at UP in 2013, an advanced one-year course in 2015 and a Postgraduate Diploma in Implantology (cum laude) in 2016.

The knowledge he gained about implantology led him to develop a keen interest in Endodontology. As an understudy of Prof. Peet van der Vyver, he completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Endodontology (cum laude) in 2017. Most recently he completed his Master’s (MSc)  degree in Endodontics at UP , which he passed with distinction.    

Dr Geoff Patterson

Dr Geoff Patterson obtained his dental degree from the University of Pretoria in 2007. In 2015 he obtained his master’s degree in Oral medicine and Periodontics, with distinction from the University of Pretoria.

Dr Patterson is an ITI fellow, an ITI speaker and a past study club director. He is a Knight of the Megagen International Network of Education and Clinical Research (Minec).

He is the former vice president of the South African Society of Periodontology, Implantology and Oral Medicine. He is a past faculty member of the University of Pretoria in the department of Periodontology and Oral Medicine.

Dr Patterson has lectured both locally and internationally. He is currently in full time private practice as a Periodontist with a focus on Implant Dentistry.

Dr George Thomadakis

Dr George Thomadakis qualified as an orthodontist in 1998 at the University of the Witwatersrand. He has a Fellowship from the College of Medicine of South Africa in Orthodontics. He has been in a private orthodontic practice in Sandton since 1999.

George was also involved in teaching at the Orthodontic Department at Wits for 14 years. George is a member of Study Group 1 in Johannesburg. He is learning to play the bouzouki.

Dr Rhoodie Garrana

Dr Rhoodie Garrana completed his undergraduate dental degree in 2009. He received his MSc degree in 2014 and his MDent in 2018, all from the University of the Witwatersrand. He currently practises in Bryanston Johannesburg as a Periodontist.

Dr Garrana was awarded the Young Pro Speaker award by Professor Stephen Chen at Pretoria University in 2016.  Dr Garrana was a former ITI Study Group Director for Southern Africa and is still an ITI member and Fellow. Dr Garrana is a member of the Megagen International Network of Education and Clinical research (MINEC).

Dr Garrana has a keen interest in Implantology and Periodontal Plastic Surgery.

Dr Heinrich Dippenaar

Dr Heinrich Dippenaar finished his Degree in Dentistry (BChD) at the University of Stellenbosch in 2002.He was awarded the FX Prins Award for best Student in Clinical Dentistry.

After his community service year in 2003 Dr Dippenaar started a private practice in his hometown Welkom. He served on the SADA board of the Free State Branch from 2004 to 2008 and he became President in 2008. Dr Dippenaar completed a postgraduate diploma in Endodontics at the University of Pretoria in 2011.

He received training at the Dentsply Mailefer factory in Switzerland in 2012 and is a certified trainer on Dentsply Mailefer products. Dr Dippenaar has co-authored an article with Prof P Van der Vyver on Irrigation in Endodontics that was published in Endodontic Practice US January 2015 In 2017 he attended a workshop at the Dentsply-Sirona factory in Bensheim Germany on SiCAT and Surgical Guides and on 3D Endo Software.

The same year he attended a workshop on CBCT Examination at The University of Hamburg and Completed a year’s Implant certificate at the University of Pretoria under Prof A Van Zyl In 2019 Dr Dippenaar relocated his Practice to Plettenberg Bay He has presented over a 100 lectures on various topics both local and international and in 2019 Won the Battle of the Speaker competition in South Africa.

He has a special interest in Endodontics 

Dr Jacques Beukes

Dr Jacques Beukes is a specialist maxillofacial and oral surgeon. He obtained a dental degree from the University of Stellenbosch in 2001 and became a fellow of the College of Maxillofacial and Oral surgery in 2010. Jacques completed a post graduate diploma in Implantology at the University of Stellenbosch in 2003, and obtained two more degrees, MSc (Dentistry) as well as Master of Dentistry in Maxillofacial and Oral surgery from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2011.

Jacques was awarded the Colleges of Medicine medal for the outstanding candidate in the final examination and has published peer reviewed research articles in the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as well as the British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Jacques is a part time consultant at the University of Pretoria in the department of Maxillo facial and oral surgery.

Susana Kennedy

Susana Kennedy is a passionate and prolific speaker, and although she is best known for her work in the entertainment industry, Susana is even more deeply valued as a conduit for transformation and empowerment.
